Tanglewood Resort & Conference Center at Lake Texoma is just north of Dallas - Ft. Worth and a short drive from Oklahoma. It's perfect for a weekend getaway or family vacation.
I was recently invited up to Tanglewood Resort and after a relaxing weekend, I'm ready to share all about it!
Tanglewood Resort is located right at the border of Texas and Oklahoma in Pottsboro, TX.
It's a sprawling lakefront property, with many of the rooms featuring breathtaking views of Lake Texoma.
Tanglewood Resort Address: 290 Tanglewood Cir, Pottsboro, TX 75076
Tanglewood Resort Villas
My husband and I stayed in the two-bedroom villa, and I can't recommend this space enough if you're traveling with friends or family.
This floor plan is arranged by adjoining the one-bedroom master villa and double villa, and includes two private balconies.
It's extremely spacious, clean, and comfortable! The villas are well-equipped with a full size refrigerator, stovetop, oven, coffee maker, toaster, plates, mugs, and more.
There's also a cozy seating area with a coffee table and tv. Plus, a large dining table that's perfect for playing cards!
Tanglewood is also dog-friendly, so Brutus will tag along with us next time. There's a ton of space for him to sprawl out throughout the villa.
Things to do at Tanglewood Resort
Tanglewood is under new ownership and currently undergoing a renovation process that started with the pools.
Relax in one of the three pools or in the hot tub during the day and hang out under the covered seating area at night.
The Tanglewood Resort Golf Club is an 18-hole championship golf course designed by the legendary Arnold Palmer and renowned architect Ralph Plummer.
Other activities include:
- Hiking Eisenhower State Park nearby
- Water activities, fishing, or boating on the lake
- Horseback riding through Tanglewood Resort Trails
Resort Restaurants
There are a total of 5 restaurants and bars on the property. We enjoyed most of our meals at Tanglewood Bar & Grill and Lakeview Steakhouse.
Breakfast
We had breakfast each morning in the Lakeview Steakhouse. It was buffet style with potatoes, bacon, sausage, toast, cereal, and more.
Lunch
We had lunch at the Tanglewood Bar & Grill! To start, we ordered the tortilla chips with salsa and wings.
For our mains, I ordered the veggie burger that came with a Beyond patty and side of veggies. My husband ordered the fish and chips!
Dinner
Each evening, we enjoyed dinner at the Lakeview Steakhouse! I loved watching the sunset as we indulged in the delicious bread service and sipped on a glass of wine.
The basil olive oil dipping sauce was incredible, and I can't wait to try and recreate it at home.
There are plenty of appetizers to choose from!
I highly recommend the shrimp cocktail, fried brussels sprouts, and roasted hummus.
I really enjoyed the pickled vegetables that were served with the roasted bell pepper hummus!
Since we typically don't order dessert due to our food allergies/intolerances (dairy and egg), we tend to go heavier on the starters.
The brussel sprouts are topped with almonds and drizzled with a balsamic vinaigrette.
Lakeview Steakhouse at Tanglewood offers soups and salads and plenty of accompaniments to the main course.
During our stay, we enjoyed the peppercorn filet, dill crusted salmon, and bone-in ribeye. Next time, I would love to try the shrimp diablo!
Overall, the food was great at Tanglewood!
If you have any dietary restrictions, be sure to let someone know and they'll take care of you.
Since we were staying in a villa with a full kitchen, we could have opted to cook our meals ourselves. It seemed like many families pre-made casseroles to reheat or threw a quick meal together.
I love the idea personally and if you do too, here are a few meal ideas for breakfast, lunch, and dinner:
- Fluffy Cinnamon Rolls
- Mimosa Recipe
- Veggie Pasta Salad
- Vegan Macaroni Salad
- Cowboy Caviar Dip
- Baked Meatballs
- Sloppy Joe's
- Tater Tot Casserole
Our Experience at Tanglewood on Texoma
Tanglewood on Lake Texoma is a fantastic Texas destination for families and large parties traveling together.
The staff is extremely welcoming and helpful, which is always appreciated.
One of my favorite memories from the trip is watching the sunset over Lake Texoma, while enjoying live piano, and sipping on a refreshing white wine.
Have you ever been to Texoma Tanglewood Resort? If not, be sure to add it to your upcoming Texas travels.
If you haven't been to Tanglewood in a few years, definitely come back to check out the renovations on this beloved property.
