What is thrive market?

First of all, Thrive Market is an online grocery store. They have a wide selection healthy and sustainable products. Many of the products are organic and diet-specific such as vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free, gluten-free, paleo, and Whole30.

Thrive Market is a membership model. Once you purchase a membership, you’re able to shop! Think of it like Costco meets Whole Foods, but online.

Is thrive market worth it?

In short, yes! I do think that Thrive Market is worth it. I’ve only had my membership for a couple months, so I’ll update this post once a year has gone by to see how much I actually saved.

Thrive Market makes it easy to see how much you’ve saved by shopping with them. If you don’t save the equivalent of your membership, they’ll give you a credit.

Determining if Thrive Market is worth the price will depend on your grocery needs, how easily you can get to your grocery store, and the cost of groceries in your area.

Who is thrive market for?

Thrive Market is good for something who:

• Shops at Whole Foods or another speciality food store.
• Has dietary restrictions or purchases allergy-friendly products.
• Buys organic food and wants to save some money.
• Likes having healthy store-bought pantry items.

Cons of thrive market

• Membership model: Of course, it would be great if memberships were free. Since the price it’s quite low, I do still think it’s worth trying out to see how it works for you.
• No grocery store runs: This could be a pro or con depending on the type of person you are! Some people actually enjoy browsing the aisles of a grocery store. I don’t miss the long checkout lines, but there is something about reading an ingredient list in person that makes me focus more. The website clearly states product details, nutritional facts, ingredients, and more – as if they know this. But I have gotten too excited about a deal (on two separate occasions) that I’ve purchased something that has one of my allergens. Of course, that’s not their fault. They have a large section in bold font of important information, just be sure to read through those ingredients carefully and don’t make the same mistake I did, twice.
• No same-day delivery: I have found Thrive Market shipping to be incredible fast, although not same-day or next-day. Typically my order ships the following day and it takes a couple days to arrive.

Why I love Thrive Market

As a mom who works from home, Thrive Market makes it incredibly easy to make sure I have a well-stocked kitchen. I don't always have time to do a big grocery haul or drop everything to run to the store anymore. Knowing that I can ship item to my doorstep, or even have them on autoship, is very convenient.

The Thrive Market website is very easy to use and navigate, on both mobile and desktop. As someone with food allergies, I really appreciate how simple it is to sort by things like dietary needs.

New brands are still launching on their website but they already have some of my favorites like Primal Kitchen, Enjoy Life, Siete, Bob's Red Mill, Bragg, Fody, Rao's, Simple Mills, and more. I've been very impressed with the quantity and quality of their exclusive Thrive Market line as well!

When I asked my friends who use or have used Thrive Market what their favorite food items are, most agreed on dried pasta, quinoa, seasonings, nuts, seeds, and nut butters.

I was blown away with the incredible support. In a recent order, I realized I was missing an item so went to try out the Thrive Market customer service chat. After answering a few questions, I was issued a refund in form of a Thrive Market gift card and received $5 Thrive Cash to use on a future order.

Lastly, if you spend over $49, you get free shipping! Something I like to do is add items to my cart, then once I hit that free shipping mark, I’ll place the order. That keeps me from spending extra money and reduces packaging.

Thrive market price comparisons

Cost comparisons are tricky because prices may differ at your local grocery stores and fluctuate deepening on the time of year, among other things.

All in all, Thrive Market prices are significantly cheaper for name brand products when compared to Amazon and local grocery stores like Kroger, Walmart, and Sprouts Farmers Market. I was surprised to see that Thrive Market Brand prices were generally a pinch more expensive.

• Serenity Kids Grain Free Puffs: Unavailable at my local Kroger and more expensive at Whole Foods. These are very convenient to have on hand.
• Rise Cold Brew Coffee: I'm typically a tea drinker, but love this stuff! It's smooth and gives me a nice afternoon boost.
• Thrive Market Grain Free Puffs: These cassava flour snacks are downright delicious. If you're a snacker, you'll love the barbecue flavor!
• Lesser Evil Organic Popcorn: This is another great convenience snack with a simple, clean ingredient list.

There are countless other spices, snacks, and pantry staples but these are my current must-have items!

The bottom line

Having a Thrive Market membership is worth it if you:

• Purchase a lot of name brand products.
• Stock your pantry with better-for-you foods and allergy-friendly items.
• Don’t have easy access to grocery stores or the ability to make grocery runs.
• Appreciate auto-ship so you’re never left without your favorite snacks!

Keep in mind that just because something is cheaper, doesn’t necessarily make it the best option overall, it will come down to personal preference. For example, Thrive Market Organic Almond Milk is $2 more expensive than Kroger and Whole Foods for the same size. However, those two dairy-free milks contains gums and other ingredients that I would rather avoid, making the Thrive Market Brand my pick.
