Cassava Flour Pizza Crust is deliciously dairy-free and gluten-free! It's chewy with crispy edges. All you need is 5 ingredients, 1 bowl, and 30 minutes.

I've had a bag of cassava flour that I've been wanting to use for awhile now, but wasn't sure what to make first! I put a poll up on my Instagram stories asking if I should make pizza, crackers, or cereal. Pizza was the clear winner, so here we are!
We love homemade pizza here, so I was excited for the challenge and interested to see how it would turn out. There are several recipes that call for a bunch of ingredients that we didn't have, so I took the basic ingredients and methods from a few and got cooking.
Cassava Flour Pizza Dough
I wanted this recipe to be as accessible as possible, but feel free to add additional seasoning like red pepper flakes or oregano to amp it up! Here's what you'll need:
- Cassava flour (affiliate)
- Ground flaxseed (affiliate)
- Garlic salt
- Warm water
- Olive oil (or avocado oil, veggie oil, etc.)
To make the dough, stir dry ingredients together in a mixing bowl. Add water and olive oil and stir to combine. You may need to use a little additional water to get everything to come together!
I found that rolling the ball of dough flat between two pieces of parchment paper worked well, to avoid sticking. Transfer to prepared pizza pan (or regular baking sheet) and top with sauce and toppings.
It bakes in about 30 minutes, but I recommend letting it cool for a few minutes before cutting into it. The texture changes a bit as everything finishes baking.

Topping Ideas
Originally I was going to make a garlic olive oil base but we had some extra marinara in the fridge, so I spread that over the cassava flour crust.
I also tossed some red onion, kalamata olives, tomatoes, arugula, and homemade vegan tofu feta on top!

Hi there
Any other ideas to sub out the olive oil? 3 tablespoons is a lot and I don’t have any apple sauce at the moment. Thanks!
Jenna Urben says
Hi Eve, I haven't tested this recipe with an oil replacement.

This worked great for us! We eat GF WFPB and make veggie pizzas or flatbreads. I swapped out 2 T of the oil for 2 T of applesauce to reduce the fat and it worked perfect!

Can you make this without the flax? Thank you!

I would like to know the same question! Is it possible to skip the flax? Thanks!

Hi Brittany, I haven't tested this yet but you could try ground chia seeds instead. That might work! Let me know if you give it a try.

Thank you for this egg-free recipe 🙂 What size should the crust roll out to and how long should I pre-bake if I want to pre-bake before putting toppings on?
Jenna | The Urben Life says
Hi Christina! Absolutely 🙂 Roll the dough into a circle, about 10 inches wide. If you want to prebake before adding toppings, pop it in for about 10-15 mins.

I made this today and it is incredible! It is so easy and we all loved it!
I sprinkled some onion powder on the crust before I added the sauce.
Thankfully I can have cheese! Even the gluten eaters thought it was amazing!
I can't wait to try a white version with truffles!

Hi! Pizza is kind of a no go for me (very limited topping options due to intolerances), but I was wondering if this could be baked as a pita or flatbread of sorts. I was thinking of drizzling it with olive oil and oregano and nutritional let’s say...maybe adding olives and onions. What are your thoughts? Will it make it too soggy? Thanks for any tips!!!
Jenna | The Urben Life says
Hi Josie! That sounds fantastic 🙂 I definitely think that would work. If you try it, please let me know how it turns out!
