This leftover brisket taco recipe comes together with leftover smoked brisket, warm tortillas, and your favorite taco toppings. It’s a great way to use up every last bit of that juicy, tender brisket.
Once again, we have leftovers of my husband’s Texas-style smoked brisket. This happens at least 5 times a year – Easter, Father’s Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and other family gatherings. I'm not complaining, I LOVE tacos!
They're perfect for an easy dinner, Taco Tuesday, or for parties. These leftover brisket tacos are a guaranteed crowd-pleaser, so go ahead and assemble the taco bar.
I’m going to assume you found your way to this recipe because you have loads of leftover beef brisket and you're looking for new ways to use it up. We love our leftover brisket sandwiches, but these bbq brisket tacos are a family favorite.
Why you'll love this recipe
- Easy recipe: Since we're using leftovers, this recipe is super quick and easy to make! Just prep toppings, warm everything up, pile into a tortilla, and enjoy!
- Versatile: Feel free to adjust ingredients and measurement to fit your liking.
- Great for any occasion: Serve these leftover brisket tacos for an easy weeknight meal, backyard parties, game day, or during the holidays.
Ingredients notes
- Brisket: My husband's leftover brisket is the true star of this meal. It's smoky, juicy, and flavorful! We prefer chopped or shredded brisket for tacos, since it’s a bit easier to eat compared to sliced brisket. The choice is yours though!
- Warm tortillas: I love big, fluffy flour tortillas. Smaller corn tortillas are delicious too and will make these more like street tacos. Again, use what you like or have on hand.
- Toppings: These brisket tacos are tasty as is, but additional toppings take them over the top. Keep it simple with shredded lettuce and salsa. Or let your imagine soar with fresh cilantro, chopped tomatoes, sliced jalapeños, diced red onion, corn, hot sauce, avocado crema, or guacamole.
How to make smoked brisket tacos
Find the full instructions with measurements and directions below in the printable recipe card.
Reheat brisket leftovers in the oven with a few tablespoons of leftover juices or broth at 325F for about 20 minutes.
Alternatively, warm brisket in a small saucepan on the stovetop over low-medium heat. I just don’t recommend reheating in the microwave, because that will try the meat out.
As the brisket reheats, prepare any toppings and warm the tortillas. I do with a cast iron comal or over an open flame at medium-high heat.
Once everything is ready, add warm brisket to the tortillas and load up on toppings.
What to serve with brisket tacos
Serve these smoked brisket tacos with your favorite Tex-Mex or Mexican inspired side dishes like beans and rice. Wash em down with a pitcher of margaritas, like my Texas Margarita or Limeade Margarita!
