This chocolate chip overnight oats recipe comes together with gluten-free oats, dairy-free milk, vegan chocolate chips, maple syrup, and chia seeds.

These creamy overnight oats are dairy-free, gluten-free, and vegan-friendly!

Make your morning meal easier by meal prepping jars of oats the night before. If you like my blended overnight oats recipe, you'll love this one too.

Chocolate Chip Overnight Oats Ingredients

The great thing about overnight oats is they're super customizable! Put your spin on them, make simple swaps using your favorite ingredients and toppings.

Rolled oats: Gluten-free, if needed

Dairy-free milk: I suggest coconut milk, oat milk, or almond milk. Soy, flax, etc. all work too!

Vegan chocolate chips: I love these mini morsels.

Maple syrup: Or other liquid sweetener.

Chia seeds: Optional, but recommended!

Best type of oats to use

Old-fashioned rolled oats are used for overnight oats.

Using quick oats instead will result in a mushy consistency.

Overnight oats vs chia pudding

Overnight oats and chia seed pudding are different. They're both delicious breakfast treats that thicken up overnight, but chia pudding does not contain oats.

My chia seed pudding recipe comes together with chia seeds, non-dairy milk, sweetener of choice, and vanilla extract.

Can overnight oats be heated up?

Overnight oats are typically eaten cold, from the fridge. However, you can heat your oats up if you prefer them that way.

How to eat overnight oats? Enjoy chilled in the jar or spoon out portioned amounts into a bowl.

What toppings should I add to my oats? Sliced banana, handful of berries, drizzle of agave, nuts, seeds, the options are endless. Or just eat as is!

What jars do you use? I typically use weck jars with glass lids.

How long do overnight oats stay good for? Oats should last for up to 5 days in the refrigerator.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup rolled oats gluten-free, if needed
  • 1 cup dairy-free milk coconut, oat, almond, soy, etc.
  • 2 tablespoons vegan chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds optional
Prevent your screen from going dark while you're cooking!

Instructions
 

  • Place all the ingredients divided evenly into 2 jars. Stir well to combine, seal with a lid, and refrigerate for at least 6 hours. If the mixture seems too thick, add an extra splash of dairy-free milk.
