Quick, easy, plant-based, naturally sweetened, and wholesome. Here's everything you need to know about how to make an acai bowl at home!

I made it a mission to find the best açaí bowl in Waikiki when we were visiting Oahu at the beginning of the year. I'm a pretty picky eater, so the first time we visited Hawaii on our honeymoon I wasn't interested. This second time around, it was a highlight of the trip!

Check out my travel guides here, here, and here.

How To Make an Acai Bowl at Home

    Smoothie Bowl Ingredients

Once you get the hang of making your own açaí bowls at home, you can start experimenting with other fruit, plant-based yogurt, and more! Here's what you need for this basic bowl:

    • Frozen açaí packs
    • Plant-based milk
    • Frozen mixed berries + frozen banana
    • Your choice of toppings

I like my bowl to have a crunch and be filled with a variety of different fresh fruit, nuts, and seeds. My secret ingredient is to add a little spoonful of almond butter. Experiment with your favorite flavors and textures!

Tips for The Best Açaí Bowl

    1. Use frozen fruit to blend with!!!
    2. Don't use too much plant-based milk
    3. Prep all your toppings ahead of time
    4. Pop your bowl in the freezer for a few minutes after blending, before topping
    5. Experiment with making an even creamier and thicker açaí bowl by adding a couple spoonfuls of plant-based yogurt

Hi Marisa! I usually try to shop from the bulk item section of my grocery store but lately I’ve been using granola from Purely Elizabeth and CLIF 🙂

LOVE a good acai bowl, especially on these hot summer days! The options are endless and honestly if you can make them at home they're better as you control what goes in them, can customize them, and save money! Thank you for sharing.
