All about our Oahu Hawaii Honeymoon from where we stayed, what we ate, activities to plan for, and more!

Zack and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary yesterday! This week one year ago, we jetted off to the beautiful island of Oahu. In this post, I'll share where we stayed, what we ate, must-see spots, and more!

night-one-honeymoon

Choosing your honeymoon destination can be hard. Fun and exciting, for sure - but hard in the sense that you want to explore with your new spouse, make unforgettable memories, but not totally break the bank.

First we looked into cruises, because we love cruises. Then we checked out all-inclusive resorts. Then we started researching Hawaii and all the islands!

Each island has something unique and different to offer. Zack visited Hawaii when he was younger, on a family cruise. I had only dreamed of going! We ultimately decided on Oahu because it has a mix of mostly everything.

If you're staying near Waikiki Beach, bring comfy shoes/sandals because the area is so walkable. We walked to every destination in the Waikiki Beach area, as most people do. Most of all, do as much or as little as you two want! Plan a bit out before, but be flexible with plans. Scroll to see some highlights from our honeymoon!

Where To Stay

  • Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach

We typically aren't beach goer's so we planned a couple of tours around the island and made sure to see some popular spots. Our hotel was in the perfect location.

Close to Waikiki Beach, restaurants, bars, convenience stores - but far enough back from the main road so that we didn't have much noise.

The hotel was very nice, clean, and quiet too! The breakfast buffet was always stocked well and had an outdoor rooftop eating space.

What To Eat

During our planning we made a list of places where we want to eat, this came in handy when determining where to have lunch and dinner! But we also stopped into a few random bars and restaurants. Like I mentioned before, we booked tours so we were able to see different parts of the island.

There are so many great food choices, so I really recommend looking different places up or just walking into an interesting space! Everything we ate and drank was so amazing.

If I had to choose my top 3 must-eat items from the trip they would be:

  • Thai chili dipping sauce with bread service from Hula Grill
  • Bacon burger from Shorefyre
  • Noodles from Marukame Udon

You really can't go wrong!

Must-See Spots

We loved all of our self-guided exploring and scheduled tours, and absolutely recommend them!

  • Use the bus system to and from Pearl Harbor to see the city
  • Explore underwater with a submarine tour
  • Walk around the Honolulu Zoo
  • See the island with a Circle Island Tour
  • Spend a day at Kualoa Ranch

Thanks!! I hope you get a chance to visit, it was amazing! Yes, tons of movies and tv shows have been filmed there 🙂 We took their "movie tour" to check out all the locations. It was super cool! Kualoa Ranch is definitely a "must-visit" spot.
