Since giving my home office a makeover, I'm more productive and efficient. Here's how to set up a blog office if you're blogging from home!

I am so so excited to finally share my blogger office tour with y'all!
When I first started blogging, I was using my college laptop on a small desk in our one bedroom apartment. I often ended up writing blog posts on the couch or even in bed.
Even when we moved into our Dallas suburbs home, I still used my trusty old laptop (even though it crashed often and was slower than a snail). After a couple months, I decided to create a little workstation in one of our spare bedrooms.
Sitting at a desk, in a designated organized space has totally transformed my work routine. When I sit (or stand) at my desk, that's my time in get in the zone and create content.

Blogger Home Office Tour
Like I said, it took me years to get a "proper office" setup. If you walked in right now, you would see that the walls are still bare, but it's functional, and that's what matters!
One of the first upgrades I budgeted for was a full desk refresh:
- iMac
- Jarvis Bamboo Standing Desk
These are by no means budget-friendly, but they were investment pieces that I paid for with money I earned through sponsored posts.
I also knew that with a more organized work space, the better content I would be able to produce.

Food Blogger Home Office on A Budget
Once I got my desk set up, I needed to address the fact that as a food blogger I have several plates, platters, bowls, linens, props, and backdrops.
At first I used an old bookcase given to me by a family member, but I quickly grew out of that. That's now in the closet for overflow!
As a professional blogger, I realized I need tons of storage:
- Important documents
- Product samples
- Pantry items
- Plates, props, etc.
I knew it would also be a plus if I could find a large storage space with glass doors. Built-ins would cost too much and honestly I wasn't looking to take on a DIY project.
That's when I came across the Billy Bookcase, from IKEA! There are several color options and size configurations. It's honestly so perfect and makes me incredibly happy!
In addition to a beautifully organized storage space, it also makes for a pretty fun Zoom background.

Tips for Bloggers Working From Home
First and foremost, work with what you have! Set realistic goals and expectations for yourself. At the end of the day, I don't need a fancy Instagrammable home office. I need internet and a computer, everything else is just extra.
Here are things I wanted to make a priority in my office and hopefully they help you too!
- Create a space that's functional and motivating: You want your office to make you happy and get those creative juices flowing.
- Keep desk clean and clear of clutter: This will help you stay focused not get sidetracked.
- Organize everything: I think we all know by now that this is my jam!
- Add some pops of personality: For me this was my pink chair!
- Go Green: Let the natural light flow into your office! I often turn off the harsh overhead lighting and supplement with lamps or simply opening all the blinds in the house. I'm also a huge fan of incorporating plants into your space. Real or fake, they bring me joy!
Make the Space Your Own
In addition to my desk and bookcase, the two other key components to my home office are my worktable and cozy corner.
My worktable is where I record all my YouTube videos and stage food photoshoots! It's an old high top table that my sister gave me years ago. The top is all scratched up but you would never know once I put my vinyl backdrops over them!
Lastly, my totally non-essential cozy corner is the newest addition to my office. I got my pink chair from Amazon, faux ficus from my sister, and wine barrel table from my mom. This corner is where I go to take calls, edit photos on my phone, and record vlog intros. It's also where I relax as a post and scroll through social!
