Vegan Chocolate Glazed Donuts come together with 10 ingredients and bake in just 15 minutes! They are soft and fluffy, with a delicious glaze and sprinkles

Skip the donut shop and make baked donuts at home. These delicious dairy free donuts are delicious anytime of day!

Why you'll love this recipe

  • This simple vanilla vegan donut recipe is the ultimate base for a homemade chocolate glaze.
  • They come together with simple ingredients and are great for breakfast, dessert, and special occasions.
  • Perfect for those with food allergies or following a vegan diet!

Equipment

For perfectly shaped and sized donuts, use a donut pan. Be careful not to overfull the pan though. If you don't have a donut pan, make a DIY donut pan using a muffin pan with foil.

Easy Homemade Vegan Chocolate Glazed Donuts

Ingredients

Here's what you need to make the best egg free and dairy free donut recipe that the whole family will enjoy! Plus my recommended substitutions.

  • Flour: Use all purpose flour! To make gluten-free donuts, use your favorite gluten free flour blend.
  • Sugar: This sweet treat needs granulated sugar, of course!
  • Baking powder: The baking powder acts as the leavening agent in this eggless donut recipe.
  • Baking soda: Baking soda makes baked goods light and airy!
  • Salt: Just a pinch to balance the flavors.
  • Dairy free milk: Use milk of choice. I typically use oat milk, almond milk, soy milk, or coconut milk. Just make sure it's unsweetened and unflavored.
  • Oil: I prefer using refined coconut oil, however you can use any neutral tasting oil.
  • Lemon juice: The acid in the lemon juice contributes to the overall rise of the donuts and helps give them a soft and fluffy texture. You can use apple cider vinegar as an alternative.
  • Vanilla extract: Just a drop to enhance the flavors and add some warm notes.
  • Vegan chocolate: To make the vegan chocolate glaze, melt your favorite non dairy chocolate chips or chocolate bar.
  • Sprinkles: Decorate with fun vegan rainbow sprinkles or nonpareil sprinkles!

How to make vegan glazed donuts

The full directions for this delicious donut recipe without milk are in the printable recipe card below.

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and soda.
  2. In a separate bowl, stir together dairy-free milk, coconut oil, lemon juice, and vanilla extract.
  3. Transfer the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  4. Spray the donut pan with cooking oil and pipe the donut batter into the greased donut pan.
  5. Bake at 350F for 10-15 minutes, until cooked through. Remove from oven and let sit for 10 minutes, then flip onto a wire rack to let cool completely to room temperature.
  6. Once cooled, stir together vegan chocolate frosting and dip the donuts to glaze. Decorate with sprinkles and enjoy!

Tips for making homemade donuts

  • Use a ziplock bag in place of a piping bag, if you don't have one! Simply pour the batter into the bag and cut the tip to pipe.
  • Don't over-mix the batter. Mix just until combined for soft and fluffy donuts!
  • Keep an eye on your donuts, don't let them over-bake!

These look so good. I have never tried vegan donuts before but can't wait to try these. I find vegan baking recipes more often than not to be better than non-vegan recipes so can't wait to make them.
