Quick and Easy Dairy-Free Mashed Potatoes are vegan, gluten-free, paleo, Whole30, and delicious! With just 5 ingredients, they're creamy, light, and fluffy. The perfect side dish!

Welcome, fellow dairy-free friend! You probably found your way here because you're eliminating or limiting your dairy intake. This dairy-free mashed potatoes recipe is going to rock your world! It's so simple, uses ingredients and tools we all have, and will please everybody at the dinner table.
We're going to be using russet potatoes, non-dairy milk and butter, salt and pepper, and if you want to garnish with sliced green onion, top to your heart's desire. Is that a no-fuss recipe or what?! They're a great make-ahead dish as well. Hello, holiday cooking or weeknight meals! This is also the same recipe I use to top my Dairy-Free and Egg-Free Cottage Pie.

I use russet potatoes but go ahead what you have on hand or your favorite type. Start by giving them a good scrub then chop them roughly, remember you're going to be mashing them at the end so no need to show off your knife skills. I choose not to peel my potatoes but if you prefer that, go ahead! Toss them in your pot, cover with water, bring to a boil, drain, then return to pot.
Now you're going to add dairy-free milk and butter then mash until smooth. For this basic mashed potatoes recipe, I recommend using almond milk or soy milk. Both are very easy to find in grocery stores and can be used in countless other allergy-friendly meals. Once your potatoes are mashed and creamy, season and garnish, then serve!

Love that you leave the skins on. My mom use to but I usually don't because I don't eat mashed potatoes much so make them how the family likes them when I do. That said I've made them so often since being pregnant and think I need to whip these up and have them try them again.

I hope you do 🙂 They're so easy and can be used a million different ways!

I have to admit, I'm more of a roasted potato gal, but my family likes mashed potatoes and it's so great to prepare a simple recipe like this one.

Jenna | The Urben Life says
Thanks so much, Kerry! I hope you can find it. It's usually in the grocery or health section – sometimes actually in the dairy/egg area.

I've been thinking about going dairy free, due to health issues.
I just didn't think I could give up butter!
I didn't realize they made dairy free butter!
What is your favorite kind?
Jenna | The Urben Life says
You can do it 🙂 I alternate between a couple! Try Earth Balance and Smart Balance's dairy-free butter. I've been wanting to try I Can't Believe It's Not Butter's vegan product but I can't find it in stores. Good luck!
