My Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Review: The perfect retreat for a fun and relaxing vacation in Orlando, Florida. Close to theme parks, dining, and more!
A few weeks ago, Zack and I took a magical vacation to sunny Florida. Our Universal Orlando annual passes were about to expire and we wanted to squeeze one last trip in.
Of course, we couldn’t go to Universal without visiting Walt Disney World too.
If you follow me on Instagram you already know that we spent three and a half days at Universal, a half day hanging out, and a jammed packed day experiencing Four Walt Disney World theme parks in 1 day!
We checked into Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress on a Friday for a 2-night stay and it was spectacular.
So, today I want to give a review for anyone curious about visiting!
About the resort
Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress is a mile away from Walt Disney World Resort, about 15 minutes from Universal Orlando Resort, and less than 30 minutes from Orlando International Airport (MCO).
Each room is spacious, well-stocked, and has a personal balcony! The resort has gorgeous views of their lake, breathtaking soaring levels, and multiple relaxing pool spots.
If you're more of an outdoorsy activity person, they also have rock climbing, biking, hiking, and water sports.
Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress sits on 1,500 acres and offers a private lake and a 45-hole Jack Nicklaus golf course. It's truly one of the most unique and relaxing resorts I've ever checked into.
If we had one more "relaxing" day, I absolutely would have taken advantage of their on-site spa.
If you're looking for a space to host a wedding, meetings, or events, they also have elegant wedding venues and exceptional function space.
With six dining spaces, you'll never go hungry! The resort offers only the freshest ingredients and pays special attention to those of us with dietary restrictions.
The location
The location couldn’t be more perfect for theme park goers! The resort offers complimentary shuttle rides but if you want to get to the park super early, it’s a fast and cheap Lyft ride away.
On a clear day, I could easily point out The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror in Disney's Hollywood Studios, Expedition Everest in Disney's Animal Kingdom, and even Cinderella Castle and Space Mountain in Disney's Magic Kingdom. All of these from our private balcony!
Of course, there's more than just theme parks in Orlando. The resort is also near the Orange County Convention Center, and plenty of shopping and dining!
The room
Our room was on the top level with a pool view. It was so nice and spacious, definitely one of the nicest rooms I've stayed in!
With a comfortable king size bed, a variety of pillows to choose from, a hideaway bed couch, ample desk space, storage with a safe, it was such a nice retreat.
The bathroom featured a rainfall showerhead, that was so rejuvenating after a long day in the parks.
My favorite part of staying in this room was when we came up from dinner, we were greeted with the Disney fireworks, right from our balcony. It was so magical!!
If you’re booking your room, make sure to select a pool view because it was so special to watch the fireworks from our private balcony.
The food
When we travel we like to make sure that we not only have awesome food options but they cater to allergy-friendly diets too. Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress has six dining spaces, and better yet the menus feature which dishes are vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free.
It's so nice to feel comfortable when ordering and they exceeded all our expectations when it came to dining. Even their quick service Market had several allergy-friendly snacks and meals to go.
We considered using room service one evening because they have a Vegan Flatbread on the menu with roasted beets, heirloom tomatoes, wild mushrooms, vegan cheese, balsamic glaze, and fresh herbs.
Instead, we stayed in the parks too late and made it our mission the final morning to check out the Lakehouse for breakfast.
The dining room was big, open, bright, and had giant windows that looked out over the lush grounds. I ordered the Tofu Hash, that came with diced tofu, fresh garden herbs, diced potatoes, onions, asparagus, mushrooms, and arugula. It was delicious and earned a 10/10 from me!
Next time we visit (because I am already dreaming of another Florida vacation), I need to visit Hemingway's Restaurant. They have a separate vegetarian menu with multiple vegan and gluten-free options.
Read this list and try not to drool – Grilled Tofu Skewer, Heirloom Beet Salad, Vegetable Scampi, Grilled Tofu... Sounds like heaven to me!
The Grounds
The gardens, pools, beach, and private lake at Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress are reason enough to visit!
You’ll come across sculptures, art installments, rock formations, waterfalls, and more.
The beach has hammocks, loungers, and the most relaxing two-person glider I’ve ever swung on.
We actually lost track of time just swinging back and forth over the water. It was truly surreal!
If you need a break from lounging by the lagoon-style pool, wander or bike ride around their walking trails or give their water sports a try.
Who can say no to paddle boats or water bikes?
Service & Amenities
The customer care at this resort was exceptional! From complimentary champagne upon check-in to Merlot the Macaw, the Lobby Ambassador welcoming guests, and the friendly smiles from everybody, we won’t forget how great Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress is to their visitors.
If you’re like me and always forget to pack that one thing, don’t fret! They have an extensive list as part of their Convenience Collection.
I simply phoned them up, told them which items I needed, and within a few minutes, there was a knock at our door.
The amenities here go on and on but the ones that stood out most to me were the 24-hour fitness center, daily activities, and outdoor sports.
I've heard through the grapevine that next year they're adding a miniature golf course!
Overall
Clearly, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress. I would love to book a trip back to Orlando and stay at the resort again.
The only thing I would do differently is schedule at least a day or two to relax on the property!
If you're booking a trip to Orlando, I highly recommend looking into Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress for your place to stay and play!
