This smoked pork tenderloin recipe is relatively quick and super easy to make! It's juicy and tender with a delicious subtle smoky flavor.

Smoked pork tenderloin is great for weeknight dinners, backyard cookouts, parties, and special occasions. You can keep the seasoning simple or switch it up with a variety of spices or bbq sauces. It's easy to make, beginner friendly, and versatile.

Ingredient notes

Pork tenderloin is a common cut of meat and easily found in plastic sealed packages at your local grocery store. It's typically sold in 2 pounds, which will generally feed 4 people once cooked. Be sure not to get pork loin, it's not the same and cannot be substituted.

We've cooked this several times using different spice rubs and marinades, so feel free to use your favorite or come up with your own!

How to smoke pork tenderloin

Find the full recipe with measurements and directions in the recipe card below.

  1. Preheat smoker: Preheat your pellet grill smoker to 300F. We use bbq hardwood pellets from Costco. It's a blend of oak, hickory, maple, and cherry.
  2. Trim and season: Remove the silver skin using a sharp boning knife. It's important to not skip this step! Season with your favorite dry rub or marinade.
  3. Smoke pork tenderloin: Place the pork directly on the grill grates and smoke for 90-120 minutes, or until the internal temperature reads 160F. We like to flip the tenderloin at 45 minutes for an even smoke ring.
  4. Slice and serve: Once the pork tenderloin is cooked, let the meat rest for at least 10 minutes, then slice, and enjoy.

Serving suggestions

Serve juicy pork tenderloin with classic bbq side dishes like smoked green beans, smoked baked beans, or smoked corn on the cob. It's also delicious served with kale salad and creamy potatoes.

I hope you enjoy this pellet grill pork tenderloin as much as we do! It's great for meal prep, easy weeknight meals, leftovers for lunches, and holidays. If you give it a try, let us know what you think!

Equipment

  • Electric wood pellet grill
  • Digital meat thermometer

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds pork tenderloin
  • 1.5 tablespoon olive oil
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 2 teaspoon paprika

Prevent your screen from going dark while you're cooking!

Instructions

  • Preheat pellet grill smoker to 300F. Trim the pork tenderloin, making sure to remove the silverskin.
  • Whisk the brown sugar, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, paprika, and ground mustard together in the small bowl.
  • Pat the pork tenderloins dry with paper towels. Coat all sides with oil followed by the seasoning blend.
  • Place the pork directly on the grill grates and smoke for 90-120 minutes, or until the internal temperature reads 160F. We like to flip the tenderloins at 45 minutes for an even smoke ring.
  • Once cooked, remove from smoker and let rest for at least 10 minutes under foil before cutting. This will allow all the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, making it ultra juicy, tender, and delicious!
  • Slice the pork into ½-inch thick medallions and serve immediately.

Notes

Use your favorite seasoning blend or marinade!
  • After trimming, pat the pork tenderloin dry, then coat in a neutral oil. Season all sides well.
  • If using a marinade, let marinate for at least 15 minutes before smoking.
  • You will have extra spice mix if you use my measurements above, save it to use on other grilled meat.
We use a blend of wood pellets made up of oak, hickory, maple, and cherry. Apple would also be good for this recipe.
