This non-alcoholic mint julep recipe combines zero proof whiskey with fresh mint leaves and simple syrup for a bright and refreshing mocktail. It’s great for a Kentucky Derby party or a hot summer day.
Add fresh mint leaves and simple syrup to a cocktail glass. Muddle until aromatic then pour whiskey alternative into glass.
Fill glass with crushed ice about ¾ of the way full, stir until the cup is frosted on the outside. Top with additional crushed ice, garnish with a sprig of fresh mint, and serve.
Notes
To make homemade simple syrup: Dissolve 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Bring to a boil and then let simmer for 1-2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and let cool for at least 30 minutes. Strain into a glass jar and store in the fridge for about a month.
