Dairy-Free Dalgona Coffee is the latest viral food trend made with instant coffee, granulated sugar, hot water, and non-dairy milk!
I saw this trend on TikTok about a month ago and have been wanting to try it out myself. I wasn't able to find instant coffee anywhere, even amazon, but finally got my hands on some – so let's get whisking!
Dalgona Coffee aka Whipped Coffee
I'm actually a big fan of this dairy-free dalgona coffee! My husband said it best when he compared it to those glass bottled frappuccinos. Yum(:
To serve dalgona, fill up a glass with dairy-free milk. You can leave it as is, add some ice cubes, or warm it up for a cozy treat. Then, simply dollop the creamy and fluffy whipped coffee right on top!
Dalgona Coffee Recipe FAQs
So, what is dalgona coffee?
Dalgona coffee is basically just whipped coffee. It’s made with instant coffee, sugar, and hot water, then spooned over a glass of dairy-free milk! When you whisk together the instant coffee and sugar with hot water, creamy fluffy peaks start to form and that’s what you mix in with your chilled or warm milk.
What type of dairy-free milk should I use?
I've only tried it with almond milk, because that's what I currently have. I'm sure coconut milk, oat milk, soy milk, etc. would be just as great!
Do I really have to use instant coffee?
Yes, instant coffee or instant espresso is a must for this fluffy treat. Regular coffee grounds won't dissolve properly.
Can I use less sugar?
I've heard using half the sugar worked for some people. It may have a slightly bitter taste and not foam as well, though!
What if I don't have a stand mixer?
Grab your whisk and get ready for an arm workout! A hand frother or electric mixer works too.
