Taco Night with Taco Cabana

Taco Night with Taco Cabana

Any day ending in “y” can be taco night, in my book! Living in Texas, I’m lucky to have so many Tex-Mex and Mexican restaurants just a stone’s throw away. Most Tuesdays I whip up tacos, homemade rice, beans, and tortillas for dinner; but sometimes it’s nice to go out. This week my husband and I decided to go out to an old favorite, Taco Cabana!

In college, my husband Zack and I used to frequent Taco Cabana at least once a week! You can always count on the food being fresh and just enough to hit the spot. In case you’re not familiar with this Texas favorite, the restaurant specializes in Mexican-inspired food made fresh by hand. We love TC because the open-display cooking lets you see the kitchen, they serve beer and tequila margaritas, have spacious patios, and a drive-thru. (Plus, I just love their flautas!)

Last month Taco Cabana introduced three new limited time only flame-grilled chicken tacos and a new house-made Premium Margarita made with 100% Blue Agave Lunazul Tequila!

Zack and I have been eating healthier lately, so I was excited to hear about the new chicken breasts with a fajita spice blend tacos. Of course, I ordered my tacos without dairy but with the savory flavors all the tacos had, it wasn’t even missed.

Grilled Peppers & Onions with Salsa Roja: Sautéed red and green peppers, blend of grilled onions, diced tomatoes, Salsa Roja, and a squeeze of fresh lime juice. This new taco takes the traditional pairing and packs it full of flavor with their fajita spices and salsa.

Roasted Poblanos, Ranchero & Cheese: Roasted Poblano chilies, melted Cheddar and Monterrey Jack cheeses, and slow-simmered Ranchero Sauce. Oh my gosh, this was so yummy! The roasted poblano pepper, salsa, and fluffy tortillas will keep me coming back for this taco!

Bacon & Jalapeño with Salsa Ranch: Melted Cheddar and Jack cheeses, roasted jalapeño chiles, Salsa Ranch, and thick-cut, double-smoked bacon. I was expecting this one to be too spicy for me, but the heat was perfectly paired with smoky bacon and fresh guacamole.

Premium Margarita made with 100% Blue Agave Lunazul Tequila: Award-winning tequila for great taste and exceptional quality – Lunazul Tequila comes from a 250-year-old family tradition and is hand-crafted and distilled in small batches for consistent high-quality flavor. THIS MARGARITA THOUGH! I’m for sure coming back during happy hour to order this marg again. I typically order margaritas on the rocks or up, but Taco Cabana’s frozen margaritas with sugared rim are too refreshing not to try. Even in rainy 40 degrees Texas weather!

The new tacos are $2.29 each or you can mix and match any three for $5.99! Then to wash it all down, the new 12-ounce premium margarita that’s on the menu to stay is $5.75 or $3 during Happy Hour from 4-7 pm every day. See ya there!

I was given the opportunity to try the tacos and margarita at no cost in exchange for a blog post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

  1. Don’t think I have ever had authentic tacos. In the UK you get burritos or fajitas and I am sure they are far from the real thing. This food looks amazing!
