Today I’m celebrating my 25th birthday! Twenty-five was an awesome year because I learned a lot about myself, my goals, and ultimately how to “adult”. We all joke how hard “adulting” is and how nobody really knows what we’re doing, but this year taught me that even if I’m not 100% certain of an outcome, as long as I’m doing what I love and believe in everything will be okay. Now that the heavy stuff is out of the way, let me tell you where to go to treat yourself during your birthday week or when you just need a little pick-me-up!
Recently I joined a Facebook group, Dallas Girl Gang. The group’s mission is to connect women in the Dallas area “because making adult girlfriends is hard enough”. Isn’t that the truth!? My first event with these ladies was a complimentary hair blowout. Heck yes, sign me up–new friends, blowouts, and mimosas!
Blo Blow Dry Bar is located at Watter’s Creek in Allen, TX. It’s right off 75 surrounded by shops, restaurants, and a nice green space. The atmosphere is fun and light, with pops of pink. Upon your arrival, you’re offered a drink (gimme all the mimosas, please!) and their hair menu to choose which look you want. They have styles from top knot buns and pony tails to tousled or big curls to straight and sleek. Since my hair is naturally straight and I usually put it up in a bun or pony, I opted for the curls!
During my shampoo, I learned that my stylist recently moved to North Texas from out of state and began working here. Although this location has been here for about a year. We chatted a bit more before I let the delicious smelling shampoo take me away and got a quick scalp massage!
Throughout the rest of my blowout, I sipped on my mimosa and took the time to relax knowing that I had a busy week ahead. My jaw dropped when I got ahold of the mirror and was able to see all the curls in my hair! There’s just something about a blowout! So soft and bouncy, with just the right amount of hold.
Of course, I couldn’t just go home after my fabulous blowout so I met up with my sister for lunch. Watter’s Creek has tons of dining options, from sushi to Mexican to burgers! Anything you can want, you can probably find there.
We decided on PF Changs since they have great options for vegetarians, plus a lighter menu for those trying to eat healthy while dining out. Stacey ordered the vegetable lo mein, I got Buddha’s feast with tofu, and we shared eggless fried rice! Everything was great and nobody left hungry.
If you’re looking for a spot where you can get your hair done, grab a bite to eat, do some shopping, and treat yourself go check out Watter’s Creek!
