Now that it's officially grilling season, it's time to get outside and fire up your grill! One of my favorite parts about BBQ dinners are all the sides. This German Red Cabbage recipe pairs perfectly with grilled meats and veggies alike.

One of my favorite grilled meats is bratwursts. Instead of serving them alongside potatoes, try lightening the meal up with German red cabbage!

The best part is that you don't have to heat up your kitchen since you can use a dutch oven. If you don't have a dutch oven, a large skillet will work well too.

I have made this recipe a few times and we love it. I do add some cinnamon, cloves and pinch of nutmeg on occasion to add that warm spice taste. Either way it’s a great recipe and so very easy.

Amazing πŸ’œ Thank you so much for posting this recipe. I grew up eating this red cabbage recipe. I wanted to make it and couldn't remember the details. It's perfect. The only additional item that my mother used to add was a bay leaf. I also made a batch of my mom's German potato salad to serve as a second side dish. It was a wonderful dinner, everyone enjoyed it. Thank you.
