Live in an apartment? Share a house? Don't have a lot of extra space? Here are my Holiday Decorating Ideas For Small Spaces Tips!
The holiday season is here, you guys!!!!
Haul out the holly
Put up the tree before my spirit falls again
Fill up the stocking
I may be rushing things, but deck the halls again now
...you get it, it's time to decorate! But what if you live in an apartment that's already bursting at the seams? The goal when decorating in small spaces is to keep it uncluttered and functional. Follow these tips for a festive yet simple holiday feel!
Tip 1: Opt for a smaller Christmas tree
Sure, we could probably fit a 4 footer in here but then we'd have to rearrange our already-tight furniture and squeeze around it every time we walked anywhere in the living room. Instead, dedicate one small table to be your Christmas tree table!
Here's what I did:
- cover small table in felt fabric
- wrap tree skirt around the base of a cake stand
- place small tree (ours is a Norfolk Island Pine) on top
- decorate!
Tip 2: Choose 2-3 statement holiday pieces
I know, I know–it's hard to only choose a couple of your favorite holiday decorations. But hear me out, having only a few on display won't add clutter and will serve as statement pieces. Win win, am I right? I chose a large, brightly colored, and fun advent calendar and a cute teddy bear to sit on a small table in our entryway/kitchen.
Tip 3: Remember, a little goes a long way in tight quarters
In addition to your tree and minimal holiday decor, add a few understated items. Candle sleeves are great because they are festive and also transform your candles by covering them. Don't forget your holiday mugs and glasses, simply bringing them out will make you feel all warm and cheery inside.
Happy Holidays!
